This approach saves you significant time vs. traditional forms to podcasting because there is no need to manually edit and move audio files. Mobile Podcaster uploads the audio from your iOS device directly to your WordPress site or the FTP destination of your choice,
eliminating the need to manually upload recordings and to your server and create new blog posts.
What’s New in Version 1.6
- Updated for iO7
- Updated for WordPress 3.6 audio embed support
- Minor UI improvements
- Minor bug fixes
The new look for iOS7 is nothing radical, but rather just some minor tweaks around the main navigation in particular. There’s still more to do here in future releases, but functionally it works well embodies the new spirit of iOS7. We also addressed a bug in version 1.5 where some folks were not seeing the Post Status options on an iPhone 5’s 4″ screen. This has been corrected, so you may post as draft, private, published or pending. I really love this feature!
One major change with WordPress 3.6 since the release of Mobile Podcaster Version 1.5, is the introduction of native support for Audio and Video in core WordPress. What this basically means is that it is no longer necessary to install a plugin in WordPress to play audio and video. Historically, you might use Blubrry PowerPress plugin (which I love and still highly recommend) to play podcast episodes. Those audio files needed an enclosure, such as . The new core audio support uses no plugins and will recognize audio files enclosed with .... Lucky for you, we’ve now added this enclosure and a standard option in the Enclosure settings.
The big news for Mobile Podcaster is that the next release will include MP3 encoding. A lot of you have asked for this and after 12 months, we’ve finally cracked the egg on this one. It works very well and we’re really excited to get this in production.
